BEHIND THE CURTAIN

Bloch is proud to continue its partnership with The Australian Ballet in Behind the Curtain – our latest campaign with Bloch Ambassadors and Principal Artists, Amy Harris and Callum Linnane.

An immeasurable amount of work goes in to what you see at a performance. Training, rehearsals, strengthening and conditioning. We work closely with the dancers of The Australian Ballet to provide reliable shoes that can keep up with their schedule, allowing them to perform at their best when the curtains rise.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Amy wears a dress by Toni Maticevski, an icon of Australian fashion design who shares Bloch’s value for quality craftsmanship.

Amy’s pointe shoes – along with our entire range – are hand crafted using the finest materials.

"I think every ballerina remembers the day they had their first pair of pointe shoes fitted. It’s quite a milestone for a dancer! For me, my relationship with Bloch goes back to when I was around age 11. Now, at age 38 and in my 21st year dancing professional I have tried many shoe styles, I’ve also been spoilt with shoe fittings and custom pairs of pointe shoes, but Bloch have always been my shoe of choice."

LISTENING TO DANCERS SINCE 1932

Callum’s t-shirt features a print of an advertisement from one of Bloch’s original Sydney stores – in our 90th year, we pay homage to our heritage.

"I remember being a student and seeing a photo of David Hallberg in a Bloch campaign and being so inspired. That image of him in a soaring grand jeté stayed with me. I’m thrilled to now be a Bloch Ambassador and the thought that I too could inspire another young dancer to follow their dreams is a wonderful full circle moment."

LEADERS OF INNOVATION

Callum wears InStitchu, an Australian brand that disrupted the made-to-measure tailoring industry through world-leading technology. His ballet flats, the Performa, are just one of many recent innovations in ballet footwear, continuing our passion to provide the best.

"Bloch carried me through my entire career as a dancer. It became my armour and my support in long rehearsal days as well as the most important of performances. Which is why I am honoured to continue the partnership between The Australian Ballet and Bloch. And to see the support they give the dancers here in Australia, both in the rehearsal studio and on stage"
