OUR LEGACY
LEADING MOVEMENT INNOVATION SINCE 1932
Jacob Bloch, a shoemaker by trade, immigrated to Australia from Lithuania in 1932.
His love of music, theater, and dance drew him towards the local dance schools, where he noticed a young dancer struggling to stay en pointe. Jacob spoke with her, listening to her needs, hopes, and dreams, and promised that he would make her a better pair of pointe shoes. A promise that would inspire Jacob for the rest of his career.
In 1932 the first Bloch ballet shoes were crafted in Jacob’s candlelit workshop in Paddington, Sydney.
